The Attribution Moment Is Coming — But We Need to Be Honest About What We're Actually Predicting

If your definition of 'explicit AI attribution' is met by that event, our forecast already resolved. We don't think it did, and here's exactly why: Klarna is not a Fortune 500 company, the attribution covered the full company rather than a specific function, and it came via media interviews rather than formal investor disclosure like an earnings call. Our forecast target is more precise: a Fortune 500 employer explicitly attributing 500+ role reductions in a single identifiable function to AI automation in a public disclosure — earnings call, 10-K, or formal investor communication. Klarna is the closest prior instance. It is not resolution. But it is a precedent that matters, and any honest version of this forecast has to acknowledge it changed what 'unprecedented' means. The pattern exists. We're forecasting when it crosses the Fortune 500 threshold.

Now to the displacement evidence, and what it actually proves.
